BRIAN ON VACATION - Like so many artists before him, Brian has visited visit Florence on more than one occasion. Here where one is surrounded at every turn by great art, in particular art from the Renaissance, there is said to be a special "Spirit of Art". Brian certainly enjoys being there.

The most beautiful and most famous Italian gardens in the world, the Boboli Gardens, are located behind the Pitti Palace, the main seat of the Medici grand dukes of Tuscany at Florence. This Garden Park, with is unique water features and fountains is also known for its wide gravel avenues, expansive lawns, and its many sculptures which date from the Classical period up through the 16th to 18th centuries.

This ancient church, begun in 1268, and featuring a mixture of Romanesque and Baroque architecture, is famous as the location of the Brancacci Chapel which houses the outstanding Renaissance frescoes of Masaccio and Masolino da Panicale, later finished by Filippino Lippi. These frescos are considered the first masterwork of the Italian Renaissance.
